Let’s Do the Right Thing— For the Kids!

The current era is fraught with issues which parents must navigate. TV. Internet usage. Drugs. Relationships. The list is endless. Yet another has been thrown into the ring…one for which we were not totally prepared. It is the new dilemma of a shot masquerading as a vaccine, and a host of government entities pushing it on your precious children.

Most recently there are ‘vaccine’ requirements that threaten to force parents into making decisions that potentially will impact their children’s lives into adulthood. What is a parent to do? How can a parent protect their children from the effects of a yet-to-be-approved injection that to date has caused more injuries and deaths among partakers than all the other vaccines over 30 years?

A friend in an online group was faced with this dilemma. Below is my response. I hope you find it helpful:

On kids vaccine requirements and exemptions… there truly is no other option. The time has come for all responsible parents to homeschool. Many of us have been talking about it for years and tied our personal conservative values and faith to the reason for homeschooling. Let’s be honest here–government school values have not been aligned with that of conservatives and Christians for decades. Well that reason is now on steroids!

Homeschooling  is completely doable and there are no excuses. There are ways to get around a two-income household. If you feel the money is that critical, find a job where you can alternate schedules so that one parent is at home with the kids during the day and the other at night. Since my husband and I have been married, I have not been in the workforce specifically to be at home with the kids. We got that in place fairly early. And, yes, the extra income would have been wonderful! I had a great career at the county hospital as secretary of a 13 doctor Anesthesiology group from Stanford. I loved the job. I loved my employers. It was stimulating and fulfilling. And I was at the top of the pay scale in the secretarial pool. But some things are a lot more important than the money you’re bringing home. For the sake of your children, this is the sword to fall on at this moment in time.

There are many good how-to books out there. HSLDA (Homeschool Legal Defense Associatiin) is the organization to join for legal, pro bono assistance. And I have written a book that gives a tongue-in-cheek look at some of the pitfalls newbie homeschool moms face… and how to avoid them.

There are many resources out there for you. But the most important resource is your relationship to God. You are commissioned to train up a child in the way he should go so that when he is old he will not depart from it. That’s a pretty all-encompassing Mandate. Of all the mandates out there right now, this is the only one you should worry about following. The implications are eternal.
