From John 17

22   And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one,

23   I in them and you in me, that they may be brought to perfection as one, that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them even as you loved me.

In this passage, Jesus is describing the One Church He came to establish. And it was One for decades…One in doctrine, theology, structure…unified. That Oneness was and is the Catholic Church.

Post-reformation, there has been a re-definition necessitated by division…an oxymoron, so to speak. Ask any non-Catholic, and he will define this passage as meaning a vague connection of rudimentary belief in Christ as Savior.

But if we define the actual salvific process for Catholics vs. 34,000+ sects, they are anything but ‘One.’

In this 500th year commemorating the One event in history which forever divided people of faith, be careful you don’t ‘celebrate’ that division.

Consider coming home to the Catholic Church.

  1. It took me years to realize that the Church that Christ established was the Catholic church. I wish that I learned that earlier, but at least I finally found the truth.

  2. Celebrating the Reformation is what does happen. All of my kids learned about this and know it well. I hope, as adults, they will look deeper into scripture and find the truth in the Catholic Church, as I have.
